Sanctum — Rock Solid Web Development

I am presently not available for contract work as my schedule is full for early 2012. If you are looking for development work, I recommend Professional Development, for design work Terry Mahy, and for networking and systems work my employer Inspire Net.

About Sanctum

Sanctum is an information technology company specialising in web design and development, spearheaded by Tom Ryder.

Why “Sanctum”?

I chose the word “sanctum” and the tower iconography to represent my philosophy of web design and web development. As the public front for a person or business in an increasingly online world, and a very powerful form of advertising, websites should be rock-solid bastions of stability, accessibility, and visibility.

A Philosophy of Web Development

People should be able to use websites from any computer, using any browser they wish. Search engines like Google should be able to see them a mile away. They should be built in a forward-thinking way so that they last for years.

I try to make my websites a sanctuary for people on the sometimes bewildering maze of the web. This means keeping them easy to use while still easy on the eyes — coming down from the ivory tower in which programmers and designers all too often hide away.

If you’re like me, you care about results and the reputation of your company, and if you’re like your users, you come to a website to get something done, not to admire gratuitous animation and cheap stock photography. Let me help you make something useful for which your visitors will thank you, and that will make them want to keep coming back.
